Tutorial Guide 02
Using Your Scout Society Account
Account Access
A Scout Society account is an organization-managed Google Workspace account. It provides access to tools using your Scout Society email address instead of a personal @gmail.com account. The exact apps and settings available to you can be controlled by the Scout Society webmasters.
Sign in on a computer
- Access the SS Portal at ss-portal.scoutsociety.org
- Select Sign in and enter your full Scout Society email address.
- Enter your Scout Society password and complete any security prompt that appears.
- After signing in, select your profile picture in the upper-right corner and confirm that your scoutsociety.org account is the active account.
If you also use a personal Google account
- Google allows more than one account to be signed in at the same time. When you open a form, Drive file, or calendar, Google may use the wrong account if you have several accounts open.
- Select your profile picture to switch accounts before opening a Scout Society resource.
- For frequent use, consider a separate browser profile for Scout Society. This keeps bookmarks, Drive files, and sign-ins easier to distinguish from personal accounts.
- Do not share a browser profile on a public or shared computer. Sign out when finished.
Protect the account
- Never share your password with another Scout, leader, or friend.
- Never type your password into a Google Form. A legitimate form may ask you to sign in, but the form itself should not ask you to submit your password as an answer.
- Use a screen lock on any phone or tablet that receives Scout Society email or Drive files.
- If 2-Step Verification is available or required, complete the setup and keep your backup method current. Never approve a sign-in prompt that you did not initiate.
- If you lose a device or believe someone knows your password, contact the organization administrator promptly.
Account recovery:
Because your Scout Society account is managed by the webmaster, some password and recovery settings are controlled by the administrator. If the normal password recovery process is unavailable, contact the webmaster for assistance.
