Tutorial Guide 01
Scout Society Online Tools
Start Here
Scout Society uses several online systems for communication, calendars, documents, forms, and advancement. They work together, but they do not all use the same account. Knowing which system you are using—and which login it expects—prevents many of the most common access problems.
Your Scout Society account and your Scouting America/my.Scouting account are separate accounts. The first is used for Scout Society email, calendars, Drive, and the SS Portal. The second is used for Scoutbook Plus and other Scouting America services.
The main systems
| System | What it is used for | Typical access |
|---|---|---|
| Scout Society public website | Public information, calendars, resources, and links | No account needed |
| Scout Society Workspace | Mail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and other tools | ScoutSociety.org account |
| SS Portal | Member only information, forms, and internal resources | ScoutSociety.org account |
| Scoutbook Plus | Scouting America advancement and activity records | my.Scouting.org account |
Use the right account for the task
- Use your Scout Society account for organization email, internal Drive files, restricted Google Forms, and the SS Portal.
- Use your own my.Scouting.org account for Scoutbook Plus. Even if the email address is the same, the account is managed separately by Scouting America.
- If a page says you need access, check the profile picture or account name before assuming the link is broken.
- On a shared computer, sign out completely when finished and do not save your organization password.
Confirm the active account, reload after switching accounts, and check whether the resource is member-only. If access still fails, ask the appropriate administrator or unit leader rather than creating a second account.
