It's that time again. Time for another 26 mile bike trip. This time Cato (or Russell, whoever he's feeling like that day) is putting together another bike trip to Seal Beach. The trip will be on October 17th and permission slips are due on October 2nd.

Are you ready to be a leader? Want to learn how you can be a good leader to your fellow scouts? Scout Society will be holding a Junior Leader Training from 4:30 pm to 10:00 pm this Saturday, August 28th at the Scout Hut. During this training, Scouts will learn how to be a leader and learn what it takes to become a successful one. This training is mandatory for all scouts under the rank of FIRST CLASS.

Time to paint...again. No, it's not another Eagle Project; it's a Girl Scout Project! Ada Ling is working on her Girl Scout Silver Award project and she needs your help. The time is here to bridge our Webelos over to Boy Scouts. To celebrate, Scout Society will have a 3 day campout at Arcadia Wilderness Park during the days of July 9 - July 11, 2010. The Boy Scouts of America will be hosting their Council Centennial Jamboree during the days of May 21-23, 2010. It will be held at Bonelli Park in San Dimas. To get a better idea of scouts and volunteers who will participate and help at the event, we ask you to please view the flyer, complete it, and turn it in this during this Saturday's Meeting (4/10).

If you haven't had the experience of a backpacking trip, this is one event you should try out. April 3rd, Scout Society will be having a hike to Hoegees. Scouts will get the feel of a backpacking trip without the overnight equipment. For those who are interested, please be sure to turn in your permission papers, $3 for food, and bring your pack. A MANDATORY meeting will be held on February 28, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Scout Hut. All scouts and at least one parent must attend this meeting. Because scouts and parents do not know much about the Scouting program, we will use this meeting to explain and address any questions/concerns. We will also be going over the resources Scout Society has made available for scouts to use.

If scouts have laptops, it is recommended that they bring them to the meeting. Snacks will be provided for this event. Also, please bring a gallon of water so we may make drinks. Once again, Scout Society will be having a community service event at Hsi Lai Temple. 7:30 am on February 14, 2010 we are to meet at the Instructional Services Center. Another Eagle Project is coming soon. On February 6, 2010, Life Scout Brandon Liauw will be having an Eagle Project at the Maryvale Orphanage. It is expected to start at 8:00 am and will most likely end at 2:30 pm. The project consists of repainting the foundations and railings of the buildings, as well as waterproofing a patio.
