October 2010 Bike Trip

It's that time again.
Time for another 26 mile bike trip.
This time Cato (or Russell, whoever he's feeling like that day) is putting together another bike trip to Seal Beach.
The trip will be on October 17th and permission slips are due on October 2nd.
Be sure to bring money for lunch because we will be raiding McDonalds again.
There will also be time for fun at the beach.
So bring your swim gear!

Allen's Eagle Court of Honor

Allen's Eagle Court of Honor is coming soon.
It will take place on September 12th at 6:00 pm.
Scouts who have been asked to volunteer their time to help out must meet at the Garvey Community Center by 2:00 pm on that day.

Etiquette Class

Have you ever wondered what's the proper way to answer a phone call?
Or what you should and shouldn't do when you are eating at a table with guests?
On September 5th, those questions can be answered.
An etiquette class will be held at the Scout Hut at 10:00 am.
Cost for this class is $10.00 per scout if paid before August 7, 2010.
Remember to turn in your permission papers!
This is a Mandatory Event!

Webelos Graduation

The time is here to bridge our Webelos over to Boy Scouts.
To celebrate, Scout Society will have a 3 day campout at Arcadia Wilderness Park during the days of July 9 - July 11, 2010.
The Webelos graduation ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 10th.
Costs for this event will vary, so please check out the flyer.
Permission papers and money are due by June 26th.

Bowling Day

School's out for the summer, so lets have a day of fun bowling together with friends!
Scout Society will have a Bowling Day at Action Lanes on Sunday, June 27th from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Costs will be $7, it will include shoe rental and games.
No uniform is needed, but scouts must turn in the money and 2 permission papers by June 26th.
Don't forget to bring a bottle of water.

Summer BBQ 2010!

What's a better way of welcoming Summer 2010?
Why, with a BBQ at the Scout Hut of course!
On June 5, 2010 Scout Society will be having a day full of fun, food, games, and movies.
Tickets are $4 per person and they must be purchased by May 29, 2010.
Fill out the bottom portion of the flyer and return with money in an envelope to Brandon or Jason by May 29th (one per family, please!)
Don't forget to bring your eating utensils.
You'll need them :D.

Council Centennial Jamboree Questionnaire and Meeting

The Boy Scouts of America will be hosting their Council Centennial Jamboree during the days of May 21-23, 2010.
It will be held at Bonelli Park in San Dimas.
To get a better idea of scouts and volunteers who will participate and help at the event, we ask you to please view the flyer, complete it, and turn it in this during this Saturday's Meeting (4/10).
The meeting scheduled for this Saturday (4/10) will end at 7:00 pm.
At that time, a parent and scout meeting regarding the CCJ will be held.
We recommend all scouts and parents to attend this meeting and give your input.

Easter Event

Cub Scouts!
Come to the Scout Hut on April 3rd during regular meeting time and get ready to have fun.
There will be an easter event from 5:15 pm to 7:30 pm.
Scouts who participate will be involved in races, egg dyeing, and an egg hunt.
There will be food towards the end, remember to bring your eating utensils.

Stanley's Eagle Project

Before Brandon's Eagle Project occurs, there is one scheduled to take place this week!
Stanley's project will consist of sanding, painting, and waterproofing at the Maryvale Orphanage.
The project will take place this Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 9:00 am.

Mandatory Meeting: Basics of Scouting

A MANDATORY meeting will be held on February 28, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Scout Hut.
All scouts and at least one parent must attend this meeting.
Because scouts and parents do not know much about the Scouting program, we will use this meeting to explain and address any questions/concerns.
We will also be going over the resources Scout Society has made available for scouts to use.
If scouts have laptops, it is recommended that they bring them to the meeting.
Snacks will be provided for this event.
Also, please bring a gallon of water so we may make drinks.
Scouts must print out the attached flyer and turn in the completed bottom portion during the February 27th meeting (one per family, please).
If there are any questions regarding this event, Parents may contact Ms. Ng and Scouts may contact Brandon Liauw or Jason Kong.

Scout Society Camporee 2010

It's that time again!
Scout Society will be holding its 2nd Annual Scout Society Camporee at Arcadia Wilderness Park.
March 5-7, 2010 scouts will be tested on their skills and teamwork abilities.
Scouts, please meet at the Scout Hut between 5:00-5:15 pm on March 5th.
Please print out the flyer and turn in the completed bottom portion along with 2 permission slips and money to Jason Kong by February 20, 2010 (Chinese New Year Celebration).

Chinese New Year Hike

To practice our hiking skills and find some time to sign off requirements, we're going to have a hiking day!
February 21, 2010 we're going to hike to Sturtevant Falls.
Cub Scouts, your parent must come along if you want to go hiking.
Scouts are to meet at the Scout Hut at 7:30 am.
Permission papers are due by February 20, 2010 during the Chinese New Year Party.
Class B Uniform is required and scouts are responsible for their own snacks.
