Camp-o-ree Registration

The Mission Amigos Camp-o-ree will be held on March 20th. Scouts who will participate must print out the attached flyer, fill it out, and turn it in (with money in an envelope) by this weekend. You are to indicate the numbers of scouts and adults that will attend as well as their names. Mandatory Meeting: Basics of Scouting

A MANDATORY meeting will be held on February 28, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Scout Hut. All scouts and at least one parent must attend this meeting. Because scouts and parents do not know much about the Scouting program, we will use this meeting to explain and address any questions/concerns. We will also be going over the resources Scout Society has made available for scouts to use.

If scouts have laptops, it is recommended that they bring them to the meeting. Snacks will be provided for this event. Also, please bring a gallon of water so we may make drinks. Scouts must print out the attached flyer and turn in the completed bottom portion during the February 27th meeting (one per family, please). Scout Society Camporee 2010

It's that time again! Scout Society will be holding its 2nd Annual Scout Society Camporee at Arcadia Wilderness Park. March 5-7, 2010 scouts will be tested on their skills and teamwork abilities. Scouts, please meet at the Scout Hut between 5:00-5:15 pm on March 5th. Quartermasters, be sure to have your patrol equipment ready.

Chinese New Year Hike

To practice our hiking skills and find some time to sign off requirements, we're going to have a hiking day! February 21, 2010 we're going to hike to Sturtevant Falls. Scouts are to meet at the Scout Hut at 7:30 am. Permission papers are due by February 20, 2010 during the Chinese New Year Party. 2010 Hsi Lai Temple Community Service

This Sunday is Chinese New Year! Once again, Scout Society will be having a community service event at Hsi Lai Temple. 7:30 am on February 14, 2010 we are to meet at the Instructional Services Center. Parents may park their cars at the parking lot and take the Temple Shuttle up to Hsi Lai Temple. The address is listed on the attached flyer. Be sure to wear your Class B uniform. Mission Amigos Camporee

We haven't had much information, but finally, the flyer is out. The Mission Amigos District Camporee 2010 is coming soon. Instead of the usual 3 day event, this year, it will be a one day event. March 20, 2010 at the Whittier Narrows Group Use Area. The cost is $12 per person. Eat your breakfast before you come and bring a sack lunch. Check-in will begin at 7:30 am. **Read More**

Brandon's Eagle Project

Another Eagle Project is coming soon. On February 6, 2010, Life Scout Brandon Liauw will be having an Eagle Project at the Maryvale Orphanage. It is expected to start at 8:00 am and will most likely end at 2:30 pm. The project consists of repainting the foundations and railings of the buildings, as well as waterproofing a patio. It is a dirty job, so be sure to wear Class C you won't mind getting paint on. Good news, lunch and drinks will be provided! All you have to do is show up and help out. Roundball Bash

School will start soon as the year of 2009 comes to an end in just a few days. January 10, 2010 at Rosemead Park will be our Roundball Bash. Boy Scouts and Venture Crew members will be grouped up into teams and compete in a basketball tournament. We will meet at 8:30 am at the basketball courts. It is estimated to end around 11:45 am. Scouts must arrange their own transportation.

Remember to bring lots of water and plenty of snacks. No meals are provided during this event, so be prepared. Class C uniform, shorts are recommended. Chinese New Year Celebration

And what do you know, the New Year is just coming around the corner. Another celebration is in order...a Chinese New Year celebration! Once again, Scout Society will be having its annual Chinese New Year party and Court of Honor. It will be held at the Garvey Community Center on February 20, 2010. Cost will be $8.00, but if you're late, it'll be $10.00.

Since this is a Court of Honor, do you even have to ask if this requires Class A uniform? YES! And because it is a Court of Honor/Celebration, if scouts want to get their badges you must turn in blue cards and money in to Ms. Ng by January 30th, 2010. Make your RSVP's on the website or with Jessica & Stanley Lin. Everything must be finished by January 30, 2010; RSVP, money, blue cards, permission papers...
